A Great Room: From Simple to Styled!

I was recently given the opportunity to take my client's living room, kitchen, and dining room from simple to styled! They already had all of the major furniture items, and just needed the finishing touches! Scroll down for pics of how I transformed this space with only a handful of accessories!

Before

After!

New ottomans and pillows!

I rearranged their current furniture and added lots of new textiles for softness and warmth!

The wall behind the couch was filled with a few picture ledges and a combination of hanging and leaning photo frames, plus a touch of greenery for movement!

I added lamps to the side tables and a few fun, colorful accessories.

I kept the mantle simple and added height with some faux greenery stems.

How gorgeous is this kitchen!?

I almost always add a small soap tray to every kitchen I design! The small touches can make such a big impact during your day to day routine!

On top of the cabinetry, I did a few small groupings in odd numbers to add some color and texture to the space.

For the dining room off the kitchen, I added a rug to ground the space and bring softness to the room.

A couple of lamps for a soft glow and some colorful décor was all this console table needed to bring it to life.

It's the Little Things

Sometimes just adding a few custom touches can make all of the difference in a space. My client asked me to make some custom curtains, recover her chair cushions, and style a table centerpiece. It always amazes me when just a few things make such a huge impact!

How beautiful is this space with just a few key elements!? For the curtains,  I did a khaki linen panel and added a print to the bottom. I recovered the chair in this cute blue and cream dot slub fabric.

The table centerpiece is a simple burlap runner, a wood box, and some faux hydrangeas!

I also added this cute burlap ruffle to the shower curtain in the guest bath!

I love adding little custom touches in every space I have the pleasure of decorating. This way my client is left with a completely custom piece that doesn't break the bank!

Fun, Feminine Office + One Incredible Wallpaper

Check out this fun, vintage eclectic office! It was so much fun designing this room around so many amazing patterns, bright colors, and vintage finds!

Wallpaper is Daydream by Hygge and West and I trimmed it out with small simple moldings!

How fab are these pink velour drapes!?

All of these vintage prints were part of my client's family history! How cool is that? And I used this glass top console table to display everything!

The desk was re-painted grey and I added these gorgeous leopard knobs!

This pillow was custom made from a cloth napkin!

I love using plates as art and this set of 4 by Kate Spade is no exception!!

Shutter Love

Ok y'all, take a look at these old shutters...what do you see? Trash, junk, a filthy mess? Well, that's what my neighbor saw! She had these stashed away in her garage for who knows how long and was about to dump them in the trash! Me on the other hand, I saw some soon to be gorgeous decor for my back patio!!! Have some vision people!

Here's a close up to show you just how nasty they were lol! Because we needed a close up right? lol
The first step to refinishing these beauties was just a little soap and water! I scrubbed them down to give me a clean surface to paint.
I chose this gorgeous shade of blue by Sherwin Williams called Jay Blue. I was inspired by my new patio pillows to go with a brighter blue color. Everything on my patio is very brown and I needed a few pops of a happy color! So, without further due, here are my shutters now!

Gorgeous right?! After giving them a solid 2 coats of Jay Blue, I dry brushed them with a very light cream khaki color to make them look distressed.

I hung them side by side above the ginormous bench my hubby made completely of reclaimed wood pallets! The pillow you see there on the left was my color inspiration for the shutters.

I added a couple of moss wreaths (Joann Fabrics) tied on with some burlap ribbon. I am so pleased with how these turned out and what I love even more is that I took something that was going to be trash and turned it into decor!! I'd like to think that if we all rescued some trash, there would be just a few less things deteriorating in a land fill. I hope I have inspired you to find some trash and turn it into treasure!!
